Well it's only taken 5 years, but I've finally uploaded my 4th Degree Grading onto YouTube.
You can find it on my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/DanSmartNZ

An interesting article on New Scientist about pain.
In our club (Lower Hutt) we've, for years, said that rather than checking a kick and waiting for the pain of impact, you should do the check proactively, expecting instead to cause pain to your opponent, and that by doing so it would hurt less.
Am wondering who still sits at the end of class and recites the following :
We are proud to study ZEN DO KAI and follow the path of Bushido
We are training for strength together and will not tolerate weakness
If you are weak, we will teach you to be strong
If you are strong, we will teach you how to use it
Fortitude is our strength

2009 Matsushima Kyokushinkai New Zealand Champs;
We (Patea dojo) attended a two day tournement held by "Davies Karate" in Hamilton on the 19th and 20th sept.
With various styles from Auckland,Hamilton,Tauranga,Taumaranui,Hastings,Wellington,Christchurch,Patea,Hawera,Raglan,Tuhoe,Hawkesbay and a team from Australia, there were hundreds of competetors and a packed out stadium both days.
I noticed a lot of cameras at Senjo. Is there the facility to upload photo, video etc onto this site? (a question for Shihan Ian perhaps...)
After many discussions with individuals at the Senjo, I have decided to postpone the Gathering. There were a lot of people already commited that weekend and they were asking if we could put it off so they could attend.
I will float some dates this week, then we can work a more practical time for everyone.
Onwards and Upwards
